We are 3 friends who have separately practiced self-love and self-compassion and have experienced what it feels like to live out this belief that we are infinitely loved. The more conversations we have around this topic, the more we see how it lights us up. We put this project out in the world because this is the mindset we want to keep growing in and we want share it with everyone we encounter.

Samantha Thomas

I’m an Aussie girl, living on the beautiful island of Phuket in Thailand working as a life coach. I truly believe that the most powerful work I do with clients is supporting them to build their self-love and self-compassion because I have seen first-hand the positive impact it has on every area of a person's life.

My own journey with self-love began when I was 30, after an experience working with a health coach revealed that the struggles I was having with my weight and my health were because of my high degree of self-loathing and poor body image. As a former TV producer, I spent a decade in my twenties surrounded by impossibly narrow and unrealistic ideas of beauty, which further cemented my self-loathing and belief that I wasn't enough. After making some big life changes in my thirties, including leaving behind my career in television, I began learning everything I could about self-love, self-acceptance, and self-compassion and finding another way of being. 

I now walk through the world with the belief that I am infinitely loved, I accept myself for who I am and I treat myself with kindness and compassion when things get tough. Self-love has fundamentally changed the way I behave in every area of my life and I can’t wait to share these practices and conversations with as many people as possible.

Lindsay Bong

I live with my husband, Koes, and our two children in the beautiful Portland, OR. I am a mental health therapist with a focus on helping my clients use self-love and self-compassion to heal and thrive.

A huge part of my encounter with self-love and self-compassion is actually from taking a 6 year pause on my career to be with my kids full-time. In that season of my life, I was forced to confront a lot of my thoughts and behaviors surrounding my value as a mom, a wife, and a human.

Practicing self-love and self-compassion and learning how to best parent my precious children taught me how to see, to know, and to love myself. This practice has helped me thrive in my inner life which in turn affects every other area of my life. I love the conversations I have around self love and self compassion and am thrilled to continued them here.

Koes Bong

I currently live in Portland, OR, with my wife, Lindsay, and our two children. I was born and raised in Indonesia until I moved to the US for college in 2000.

Professionally, I have been in the software industry for over 12 years. The competition can get fierce and there is no room for failure. Progress is tracked based on the work you output, often at the risk of experiencing a burnout.

As I progressed through my career and became a manager, I slowly noticed how this kind of mindset is not sustainable. I have Lindsay to thank for shining the light on the idea of using self-love and self-compassion in cultivating empathy and wonder in my own life and in the lives of the people I worked with.

For me, this journey has transformed my mindset in realizing that what I do or don't do does not change who I truly am.
